VELOSHOTS: Volume 2
This week Colton and I went out and explored a bit of dirt on the east side of LA, first along the LA River and then into Eugene Debs Park. There's more to see, and I hope we'll continue to nose around in the coming weeks to put together some proper trail rides.
I also managed to take a ride up to the Griffith Observatory one night after work. It was a blind ascent up through the park, but the road was closed to traffic so it was just about the most peaceful thing you could do within a stone's throw of downtown Hollywood.
And finally, the gang and I took a ride over to the west side to head up Mandeville Canyon on Saturday. It's a well-worn staple of cycling here in Los Angeles. For those in the know you'll be impressed to hear that 2 of the people in the group did < 19-minute efforts to the top. That's leg-breaking stuff. Admittedly, I rolled in about 4 minutes later. No small thing... Joe D got his hew horse and nice pair of gold slippers both handsomely featured below. It was certainly a good week to be a cyclist in Los Angeles just cranking out miles in the harsh SoCal winter.
