VELOSHOTS: Volume 9
This week was nothing short of a gift. Logging over 200 miles and just having so much fun with my fellow riders. Friday was "new bike day" and I managed to put wheels down on both Saturday and Sunday to break in the new Specialized Tarmac SL-6.
In addition to our regular early morning runs around Griffith Park and the east side of Los Angeles during the week, we managed to get out to the west side on Saturday. First, a stop and re-group at the Rapha Store in Santa Monica where we picked up a visiting rider in from San Francisco to show her around a bit. Then, we were up the PCH to the Topanga/Old Topanga pass with a glorious descent to Pedaler's Fork in Calabasas. From there, a straight shot through the valley with one final stop at the SCC shop in Valley Village before an agonizing grind back up to Mulholland Drive.
Sunday was a variation on the Taco Loop with a bit more climbing in the Verdugo Hills than usually planned. Cakes and other pastries were devoured by our crew at 85 Degrees in Pasadena before the final push home.
Paris-Roubaix, this was not. But maybe we honored the Hell of the North just a bit by getting in some big miles this week. The gallery below is pretty long, and that's what you get when the skies are clear, the legs are good and the bike is brand new.
